Thread Name: What songs did Mudcatters learn in school
Subject: RE: What did Mudcatters learn in school
In Kensington Hilltop Elementary School here in Kensington, CA we sang a lot of patriotic and American geographic stuff, like "Roll On, Columbia," "This Land is Your Land" and "Columbia the Gem of the Ocean." We also sang "The Ash Grove" and "Early One Morning." And we square-danced to a record of "Marching Through Georgia" that had singing calls:

Everybody forward and back __________ the reason why
Forward again, pass right through, look your gal in the eye,
Step right up and swing 'em, boys, swing 'em mighty high --
That's the way we do it down in Georgia

We sang some stuff in Spanish, too. And "Turn Your Glasses Over," which several people have mentioned.
