All the recent polls I have seen about the things that interest the American people -- environment, pensions, the economy have nothing to do with the Republican agenda de jour -- anti-abortion, repealing estate taxes, etc. This hardly suggests that more people in America think conservatively than liberally. It suggests that people with lots of money and power think conservatively, and can make their agenda the agenda. That is all that really counts. And the crucial poll, of course, the vote, all 30% of the electorate.
