I live 1 hour from Marietta, and for what you are seeking, I would recommend staying at the Town Center Mall area for a safe lots to do within walking distance. THere are lots of chain Motels at this exit (Barrett Parkway) Give me a little time and I will find names of pplaces and phone numbers. Also plerhaps a Band B near the swuare in Marietta. Marietta is a very nice southern downtown around the square with a lot of olf antebellum mansions and excellent resturants around the square. The Marta does not come to Marietta at all, so mass transit via subway is not an option but there is a bus system to get you to downtown Atlanta if you wish.   Kennesaw is just a freeway exit and all of the exits will have the obligatory chain motels that should be in the 49-89dollars pler night.
