Outside of that, I'd have to agree pretty much with the rest of Willie's answer. Certainly the drugs had some influence, but getting goofed up doesn't suddenly make you Bob Dylan. I think that if you break down songwriting to individual elements, he is not at the top of any list. However, taken as a whole, it's a different story. Dylan is first a poet and second a musician, but he's a damn good musician which is what makes his phrasings so unique.
