Don't know about the lighthouse, Joe, but the Pub you refer to is the Minerva, which hosts a superb singaround during the Hull Shanty Festival.
The fancy Loo is also quite something, apparently it wins awards for the best kept toilet in the country...a dubious honour, but if any of you get to see it you will understand. The brass and porcelain is kept so beautifully it really is a shame to use the place for it's designated purpose!
I have lived in the hull area (Beverley actually) for ten years, and I can certainly vouch for it's friendly population, and thriving music scene. There are sessions and Folk clubs to attend most nights of the week. Hull's now defunct "Folk Union One" club at the Blue Bell was indeed the birthplace of the internationally acclaimed Waterson Family, Guy Wolfe.
With regard to the Mudcat population, they are actually for the most part an extremely intelligent bunch, talented singers and musicians, and not nearly as mad as they seem, as anybody who actually reads the contents of our threads properly should be able to ascertain.
