There is a group of Mudcatters who are VERY angry at one of the guests this week, and seem to be hell bent on playing their flame warrior games.

You are absolutely right to never mind, as it is the only way to deal with flame warriors. They are spoiling for a fight with guests come hell or high water, obviously. So the best bet is to follow the netiquette rules of thumb, and ignore 'em.
