Subject: RE: BS: whats the problem with hull
I was born and raised in Cleethorpes (and I'm a true "Meggie" being born on the island of Cleethorpes) and I Can Assure you all it is NOT a sh-t hole. I'm a newcomer to mudcat and I've just read all the emails about Hull and I can only assume that most of you must live in the US as you dont know anything about it. Whats all the fuss about? Its not worth discussing apart from its excellent folk scene. And yes it does smell! So, if any you yanks are thinking of visiting go to Grimsby and Cleethorpes instead. Great folk music ( its where John Conolly lives - he wrote "Fiddlers Green") and Grimsby Town Football Club can knock the socks off any team in Hull! and its just across the river (oops, estuary) from Hull. PS I now live in Minneapolis Minnesota USA which also has a great folk scene.
