Bill, are you sure about these chords ? The melody as I remember it would have radically different chords, especially on the verse.

My recollection is that the chords go as follows:

As [D] I was slowly passing [D7] by an [G] orphan's home one day,
I [D] thought I'd stop a [Bm] little while just to [E7] watch the children [A7] play.
A[D]lone, a boy was [D7] standing, and [G] when I asked him why,
He [D] turned with eyes that [G]could not see and [A7]this was his re-[D] ply.

I have to say that my recollection is from the singing of the Alexander Brothers, a Scottish tartan-clad duo who may well have altered the tune from what Hank Snow wrote.

Unfortunately my sound card is down and I can't take advantage of Masato's link.
