The standard mode of beer drinking in the States, unless you are drinking draught beer (which may be pronounced anywhere from draw-t to draft) is from the bottle (or, bletch, aluminum can). This is especially prevelant in places where the male customers don't take their hats off indoors. A request for a glass (of ANY kind) is viewed with a certain amount of suspicion.
