A long time ago I wrote this verse for my friend Kate Spencer, who started the Arthur E. Smith Banjo Company (don't ask) :

If you should buy a banjo with a maple leaf on top
And dog tooth marks all down the neck it could come from just one shop
But when it falls apart you'll find no guarantee exists
You'll call, they'll say "I'm sorry Sir there's no one here named Smith"
