There are quite a few sites, like Angelfire, that will give you a free website and even the tools to build a web page. The downside is that they finance this through having popup ads when someone logs onto your site which is rather annoying. However my daughter has used a couple of these and, despite the tools provided and with a little starting help from the famous Mudcat HTML guide, has now become quite proficient in writing her own HTML and even Java applets at only 14!
My own webspace comes as part of my broadband ISP subscription, i.e. I pay for it...but at least it's then completely under my control...
