Thread Name: Lyr Req: Songs about cocaine
Subject: RE: Cocaine....
Is there any chance that you'd explain what might attract one to a song of this sort. I'm not the least bit interested in loud rock & roll (which this is site is not about) but something that sings of the desire to hooked on a drug is beyond me (see, this is your brain on....snap, crackle, pop), rather than, maybe a blues number (Good Morning Heartache-Billy Holiday) or something of the sort that might expose one to the real sad side of a life on drugs. I remember a song in the late 60's, I believe sung by a Lou Reed while in the Velvet Underground, called Heroin. Leonard Cohen couldn't come close to being this morbid & it wasn't in praise of the drug but rather it's deadly entrappment. "I Want" or "I Like" to me sounds like an answer, when asked what do you want to be when you grow up, a musician? Just say No, a junkie, great answer I'm glad you have set your sights so HIGH & here, all along I thought you were just an underachiever looking for an excuse to find a way out. Sorry, support of drugs & addiction to them is a pet peeve, not something to lightly sing about. Barry
