Subject: RE: Tech: trouble logging on with netscape
I've noted a change in "cookie handling" since a recent "security update" in Windows. Previously, selecting the "clears and deletes" functions in IE would leave most cookies, and sometimes "offline content," intact. (i.e., it didn't work very well). Since accepting a strongly recommended upgrade to IE6, plus a couple of subsequent security patches on IE, it works too well - it now deletes virtally everything, including my 'cat cookie, if I use the cleanup functions in IE.

Since I'm very sure that all 'catters keep up to date on security fixes, it's possible that this "ultra-cleanup" fix has affected your cookies????? Or is it possible that a Netscape "fix" has changed the way things work? (I'm only assuming that Netscape issues patches, since I don't use it.)

I think the changes I've seen are largely related to resetting my choices to "defaults" with the new install of IE6, and that I'll get it working once I've worked through them. The clinker is that Netscape and IE use very similar "favorites" and "cookies" files, so either can mangle the other.(of course, without malicious intent?)
