Here is a snippet from our local reviewer:

The film finds the gang preparing for their annual Christmas show when they learn they have to come up with some big bucks or their theater will be taken over by the evil Miss Bitterman, played with such animation by Joan Cusack that you won't even blink when she seduces a Muppet -- Pepe the King Prawn, who's a combination of Fernando Lamas, Cheech Marin and an appetizer.

Kermit goes from green to blue when the money disappears, triggering a spoof of "It's a Wonderful Life" with David Arquette as his guardian angel.

Actually, "Life" is just one of the many stories being lampooned. "The Gift of the Magi," "The Crocodile Hunter," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," the Sean Connery movie "Entrapment," "Fear Factor," Cirque du Soleil, martial-arts films and the old "Batman" TV series are all gently skewered.

The Muppets' final production is called "Moulin Scrooge," a full-fledged takeoff on "Moulin Rouge," with Miss Piggy being lowered to the stage on a trapeze.

In addition to the many stories, there are a multitude of cameos, most of which fall flat, unless you really can't get enough of Kelly Ripa and Carson Daly. One bit that does work: Mel Brooks as the voice of Frosty the Snowman, who keeps trying to narrate the tale, but is dismissed by the Muppets as a Burl Ives wannabe.
