There will always be claims and counterclaims as to who invented what, but while Baird made the first usable TV system, it was Marconi who invented TV as we know it - Baird's system had 35 lines, while Marconi's had 405 lines which gave better resolution (and cameras which could move). Newton and Liebnitz independently conceived the techniques we now know as calculus, but Newton published first (just as Swan was beaten by hours by Edison when it came to patenting the light bulb, and Wellington won the battle of Waterloo with a little help from Blucher - not to mention a few thousand troops, some of whom came back). I'm fed up of hearing about the sad things that happened in the war, including the bits where my dad got shot in the Black Forest and my Uncle Bert was lost at Dunkirque. C'est la guerre, n'est ce pas?
