Also, the Methodists also made a major contribution in Wales, as well as England. Presumably the same can be said of Scotland... possibly internationally. The Methodist sunday schools took literacy to the very poorest and certainly gave Wales one of the highest literacy rates of Europe. (oops. Thread drift.)
