Actually "Banua" was on the trio's very first LP "The Kingston Trio" (Capitol T 966). The song was recorded on February 6, 1958. The album was released June 2, 1958 and ultimately spent over 4 years on the charts.

Dave Guard who wrote the song was the Trio's first banjo player as Toll stated above. However, on the trio's biggest hit, "Tom Dooley" also from that first album, the banjo was played by Bob Shane and it was a tenor banjo not the 5-string that Guard and later John Stewart played.
