Hille, my understanding is that there are currently 2 servers supporting Mudcat. The main (default) one is the www.mudcat.org address that you are using. There is a second (smaller) server which supports almost all of mudcat apart, it seems, from a few of the extra bits, presumably to save space. This one is accessed by the address shorty.mudcat.org and is intended to be used when the www. server is down. The mudchat facility apparently uses alot of space on the servers hence the the need to use the www. (larger) server whenever possible. As far as I am aware the Mudchat rooms are the only facility common to both servers that do not show up as the same on both. This, in fact, creates 2 separate Chat facilities though we should only be using one at a time. Sorry if the technical stuff is a bit inacurate but the principals are sound I think.
