George, it looks like you posted the lyrics to "Mary's Boy Child" comingled with the lyrics to "O,My Lord." There is a popular recording of the two of them done as a medley, but they are separate songs.

Here is another of many variants of the song:

Mary's Boy Child

Long time ago in Bethlehem, so the Holy Bible say,
Mary's boy child Jesus Christ, he born on Christmas Day.

Hark! Now hear the angels sing. Listen what they say,
That man will live forever more because of Christmas Day.

While shepherds watch their flocks by night, they see bright new shining star,
And hear a choir from heaven sing; the music come from afar.

Hark! Now hear the angels sing. Listen what they say,
That man will live forever more because of Christmas Day.

Now Joseph and his wife, Mary, come to Bethlehem that night.
They find no place to bear their child; not a single room is in sight.

By 'n' by they find a little nook in a stable all forlorn,
And in a manger cold and dark, Mary's little boy child, he born.

Trumpets sound and angels sing: "New king born today!
And man will live forever more because of Christmas Day!"

Hark! Now hear the angels sing. Listen what they say,
That man will live forever more because of Christmas Day.

Question for further research:
Did Jester Hairston compose the words and music (out of whole cloth, as it were) or did he 'harvest' and arrange the song, as I believe he did with "Amen?"
