There has recently been a spate of "country" music specials on TV that haven't been on PBS. IMNSHO, you can take Faith Hill and Tim McGraw and ____________ (fill in the blank with your preferred act of violence).

But the Dixie Chicks last night were (again, IMNSHO) great (and I don't just mean great lookin'). I was suitably impressed, this having been the only time I've seen them perform live, with their musical chops, and the fact that the back-up orchestra (yes, orchestra) songs worked really well. Usually such endeavors are awful.

Anyone else catch them? And what did you think? And does anyone know if it is it true that the controversy surrounding their song about killing Earl was banned from some radio stations?
