Thread Name: The Great Tune Hunt Permathread
Subject: RE: THE GREAT TUNE HUNT-2002
Re Nobleman's Wedding. Did whoever contributed the midi give any indication at all of its provenance? It doesn't belong to the text I posted in the thread indicated (A NOBLEMAN'S WEDDING) though it does seem vaguely related. The DT file was copied from H.M. Belden's Ballads and Songs Collected by the Missouri Folk-Lore Society, where it was called The Faultless Bride, and appeared without any tune. (I wonder why Dick decided to change the title?) The midi doesn't belong to that text, either (since we have no idea what tune was used). I suppose that it could belong to WEAR A GREEN WILLOW, which was apparently transcribed from a record by Sarah Cleveland; but only someone who has heard that record would know, and I haven't.
