Subject: Lyr Add: THE WHEEL ON THE WAGON IS BROKEN
Black Diamond I don't know if this is the tune you are looking for.I believe it was written in the early 1900s because we had it on an Edison record in 1930.I also believe it was inspired by two artist Ernest Blimy Blumenschein and Bert Phillips in 1898 who broke a wagon wheel 20 miles outside of Taos NM and settled their to do their paintings. If you have a FAX I'll FAX you the entire story due to the fact I'm a slow typer.AS I REMEMBER IT.I don't know who wrote it

THE WHEEL ON THE WAGON IS BROKEN

The wheel on the wagon is broken
It ain't going to turn no more
My days on the prairie are over
There's weeds around the old ranch door

There ain't no campfire smoking
Where we sang when the day was through
The wheel of the wagon is broken
And gone is the west I knew

Goodbye, Goodbye Old Faithful
There's a sign on the the ranch house for sale
So Goodbye,Goodbye Old Faithful
It looks like the end of the trail

My days on the prairie are over
There's weeds around the old ranch door
The wheel on the wagon is broken
It ain't going to turn no more
