Hark most lines that anglers fling are not the ones made out of string
But rather stories most risque like tales of whales that got away
Prone to gross exaggerations and lots of misrepresentations
Fairy tales and imaginings, these are the lines most anglers fling

Hark most lines that anglers fling are not the ones made out of string
'Cause nothing's ever grown so fast as the fish that fell off their hook last
Fishing, this is what I'm thinking, just a good excuse for drinking
So many fish and so few strikes, sure builds up their appetite

Early to bed early to rise, fish all day then make up flies
If the warden asks tell him you're just teaching your worm to swim
If you don't succeed then wait cause all things come to those who bait
This one truth until they die is "I fish, therefore I lie"
There's not a fish as big, they say, as the one that got away
