Here's another use of the-

"Cherry, cherry
Cherry like a rose
I love that pretty yellow gal
God Almighty knows" (Henry Thomas: "Run, Mollie Run")

-verse from "My Little Dony" Charles Long, 1939:

Eyes just like a cherry, cheeks just like a rose,
How I love my Dony, Got in Heaven knows.

Fair you well my Dony, Fair you well I say,
Fair you well my Dony, Come another day.

As you mentioned above a similar verse (which is from the Liza Jane songs) was also found in Scarborough.
