Hell, up here in Oregon 500 of us SWIM the mile across the Columbia River. Course, we do it on Labor day (in Early Sept.) and there's no one on the other side to fight. But the Coast Guard do sometimes cancil it because of high waves.
Were you trying to start a US/England thing, Steve, and I went and interjected an east coast/west coast thing into it?
