Actually the main reason that I've loved Doonesbury all these years is that he absolutely assasinates BOTH sides. Just seems he takes the piss out of liberals, consevatives, and literally every occupation on the planet. Although I'm sure I had an ideology at some point in my life, it's been wrenched away from me bit by bit, by bad public behaviour of elected officials.

Yup he portrayed Reagan as a doddering old fool, and remember Dan Quale as a "feather"? Dubya gets it in spades as well....but so did Clinton! One of the current story lines is the Military trying to give all the media "cowboys and cowgals" a crash course on how not to either get killed or wounded in the up coming Iraq-War TV special. It's not to save REPORTERS' lives that they're doin' it, but to prevent soldiers having to HELP the reporters (and putting themselves in danger) Believe me, it's the media journalists who look bad, and the Army comes off as the good guys. Liberal preachers, teachers, minorities etc. get in in the neck on a regular basis, along with the right wing. I'm sure that Iraq will get covered, but you can be sure that Trudeau will have some kind of story line shining a light on Saudi Arabia and Pakistan....the places that REALLY hate us....oh sorry....they're our friends, ha ha!

Besides, I think that there's a kind of morning ritual that (a rapidly diminishing number of) people go through. Drink coffee....read newspaper...discuss current events with spouse...laugh at favourite comics (our other favourite is Darby Conley's "Get Fuzzy"...'cuz we got critters).....jeez I'm so friggin' domesticated it's sickening!
