Thread Name: Lyr/Tune Req: Somebody's Waiting for You
Subject: Lyr/Tune Req: There's Somebody Waiting For You
This song was sung to me by Dear Hubby's father, who learned it from his grandfather; so, I'm guessing the song is at least post-Civil War, circa 1880's. I can't remember all the words (of course), but the refrain/chorus has the line -- 'Is there someone waiting for me' OR 'will someone be waiting for me', or something to that effect.

I'm trying to get in touch with my father-in-law for some more lyrics; but, he lives in the country and was 'gone to town' today. ;-)

The storyline is about two sisters, sitting beside a river bank, with one sister lamenting her lack of a lover. While she is singing, a lone horseman rides by and answers her lament, replying 'Yes, there is someone waiting for you' -- who, of course, turns out to be himself. Strike any chords, 'Catters?

I know it's not much to go on; but, I'm betting on that Ol' Cat Magic to work once again ;-)

All the best, Áine

(PS - And it's NOT the song, 'There's Someone Awaiting For Me' sung by the Carter Family - already checked out that angle)
