to answer yer questions, i'm 44 and have always played a washtub since hi-school... i make em for friends, sold a few...
i'm a bassist at heart, always in search of an audience :)

i have 13 original songs and 3 bass solo's posted at :

i primarily consider myself a jazz bassist,
with a love of simplicity.
i gig with my washtub in a band called Laughing Gas.
its a jazz improv with brass thang.

for live gigs, i put a 58 on a pillow INSIDE of the washtub...
in my livingroom, with the `puter mic,
i got a better sound with the mic just OUTSIDE of the vented bass.
