one day when my mom was feeling low low low, sitting on a bench at school and crying, her friend sat next to her and sang a gospel song very softly in her ear. i don't know much about that song, but i believe it was about a woman naming her sorrows and then affirming her faith by saying:

"He wouldn't bring me this far
just to leave me"
