How long after I die will my songs become certified as folk, blues, jazz, or simply "contemporary easy listening"? I've written a lot of songs about a lot of things (my navel not being one of them) over the past few decades, and still like to think of myself as just a musician. I guess if I write a song about running over my dog, it's country, but if I sing a song Pete Seeger wrote about runng over his dog, it's folk. Dog's just as dead.
