Thread Name: Lyr Req: Hannigan's Hooley (Cecil Sheridan)
Subject: Lyr Add: HANNIGAN'S HOOLEY (Cecil Sheridan)
This was on the Prof's Traditional Music Pages (now apparently gone) as follows:

HANNIGAN'S HOOLEY

Now Hannigan was an Irishman who came from Erin's isle
He was a rogue who had a brogue you'd hear for half a mile
When Hannigan gives a hooley sure the news soon gets about
Tho' you may be just a stranger, if you're passing by he'll shout
Oh! Come into the parlour you can make yourself at home
Come into the parlour sure you won't be on your own

There's Mick McGee and there's Rafferty and there's Murphy and Muldoon
They say McGilligan's daughter doesn't know the taste of water
And there's kegs of stout, it's sticking out
There's grub for half the town
There's bottles of good poteen if you want to wash it down
So if you're Irish you're sure of a welcome
For there's a hooley on at Hannigan's house tonight
You must be there for there's a hooley on in Hannigan's house tonight

There's tons of ham and there's legs of lamb if you look around the room
The knives and forks are flashing and there's nothing on the ration
There is quite a store of eggs galore, there's corned beef and there's veal
A sit down tea and a stand up fight at every bloomin' meal
So if you're Irish you're sure of a welcome
For there's a hooley on at Hannigan's house tonight

Now there's Hannigan, Brannigan, Micky Malone
Missus O'Rafferty, Biddy McKeown
The Ballymaquilty band will play a jig with all its might
And if Brady meets O'Grady there'll be ructions or a fight
Take it from me there's a bit of a spree in Hannigan's house tonight

Sorry, no idea of tune and the metre looks a bit iffy in places but apart from one or two obvious mistakes I've copied it as it was on the site
