Declan, Where I come from we played football with a ball made from stuffing paper or rags into an old sock, or, a hanky ball,thus the saying amongst our ragged assembly, "He`s a great man with a hanky ball,only the boune bates him", and a Sliothar was also used, along with a tennis ball, and the odd dead cat.
