AHA!!!!

Turns out that "Touring" was the inspiration for Mille Bornes." This from a game geek website: "Touring" was originally published in 1906 by the Wallie Dorr Company, and was picked up by Parker Brothers in 1925. If the mechanics sound familiar, it is the inspiration for the game "Mille Bornes," which has since replaced it. The action card types are slightly different between the two, and "Mille Bornes" adds the "protective" cards, e.g. Emergency Vehicle which allows you to ignore speed limits.

On that site I also found the very set we had which was published in 1947......Note the green coloration I mentioned in my previous post......Geez, I DO feel old...........
