G'day Tony and all,
I see now there are 400 homes destroyed in the Canberra area ... still only 2 deaths ... something to be thankful for ...?
The fires in the Alpine areas - the Kosciuzko National Park, &c, are the worst for half a century ... I heard last night that there were fire raging in alpine meadows that have scarcely seen fire in living memory.
There are lesser fires just 70 km south of Sydney, but we are not getting anything like the scorching westerlies of yesterday ... the wind here is still south-easterly and temperatures below 30ยบ .. so far.
