If you do need to power low power/voltage items over here the UK, it's probable cheaper and easier to buy a "battery eliminator" unit over here - you can get a 350ma one for less than £5. They usually have settings for 3,4.5,6,9 and 12 volts and include all the most common jack and power plugs.
