SLATTERY'S PEOPLE was a short-lived TV series starring Richard
Crenna in 1964-65. I saw the PILOT for the series not long ago
and was impressed by such novelties as SCRIPT, CHARACTER, and DRAMA.

Each episode opens with the following announcement:-
"Democracy is a very bad form of Government, but I ask
you to never to forget it, all the others are far worse".
