Of course your answer is the right one. I wasn't disputing that. However, I think the question was about the energy value of food being measured in calories. As far as I know, it was science that chose to measure food energy in calories. If one consumes 3500 calories (food energy) MORE than one uses, one is left with 1 extra pound of fat.
