Well, Spanish seems to be the equivalent here in the US of French in Canada. Almost. It's on a lot of our signs and lables along with the English. And when calling any sort of federal government telephone number, while you're listening to the menu options, they pretty much always give you the option of hearing it in Spanish. So it does seem to have become a sort of second language of the US. I doubt it will ever become the first language though.
