Art: I believe a recent poll showed the hispanic population much higher than you report. I want to say I heard the figure closer to 20% but I wouldn't swear to it. As others have suggested, though, most Spanish speaking people realize when they come to the U. S. that if they want to succeed in this country, they will need to learn English. I doubt we are close to having that language replaced here.
