Flat, if my thumb is any indication. I didn't seek medical attention, either, but was visiting the Veteran's unit at the hospital later that day and one of the nurses asked me about the bandage. When I told her about the way I cut it, which sounds similar to your wound, she asked to have a look. She gave me s***, cleaned it, pressure bandaged it, and got a doctor to take care of it. She burned it some kind of gauze type stuff which also acts like skin, bandaged it and gave me a tetnis (sp) shot. I was taken aback with all the fuss, but it didn't turn black like John's.

A few years ago, I got cellulitis from a small wound... twice. Apparently, infections are much worse than they used to be when I was a lad. So, if it's anything you can't deal with using alcohol and bandages, go see a med.
