It's written and performed by a guy called Terry ?????, who now lives in Warwickshire, but originates from somewhere south and/or East of here.

The words above are the chorus of his song about a folk club in the 60s at a pub called the Molly Miller. This would be the right sort of time frame, and the song only says he sang the blues. It was the others at the folk club who sang Irish songs

FWIW, Terry accompanies himself on guitar. He plays left-handed but the guitar is strung in the conventional right-handed way.
