I think giok's Perth reference has some value ... back around 1960 most of the Poms still came out by boat .. and a hell of a lot scurried ashore at Perth ... first landfall ... and wouldn't get back on board - accounting for the high Pommy levels in West Oz!
I'll just have to ponder who I know in WA ... apart from a non-folkie niece via the wife's side ...
