NetLibrary is a good one, and there is a nifty trick to how you use it. Go to a public library or campus that has a subscription to the service, and set up an account from one of their computers. It's IP specific, but only the first time. Use your email address as your account number, as I recall. Anyway, next time you log on, it can be from anywhere. I work at a library with NetLibrary, and this is one of our "well kept secrets," or everyone might come to set it up then tie up our books that we subscribe to for students and faculty. NetLibrary has quite a few new books, recent releases (they have made the arrangements--someone remarked on this above). There are also a lot of free books anyone can read anytime, anywhere.
