In a city in the northwest US, an organisation wanted to buy some billboards and put this simple slogan on them, "Give peace a chance." The company which now owns almost all of the billboards there, Clear Channel, which has also taken over so many radio stations, refused to sell them the space because of the message.

Suddenly, old billboards which had not been in use, on various buildings and byways, were brought back to life with the peace message. The people of the business and city community refused to stay silent and found a way around such tactics as Clear Channel's.

In that same state, a tv ad about road rage shows a scenario of car after car on the freeway being driven by angry drivers, then cuts away to one person who begins to sing "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me..." The message follows about giving peace a chance when driving, etc.

Some people I know, including myself, are so numbed by the constant barrage of negativity and war talk in our media and government, etc. that the one thing we can think to do is sing this peace song and/or repeat the "mantra" of "give peace a chance."

Please, if you feel so inclined, post what other positive news you have of peace in your community or elsewhere. It would be a nice balance if we could keep this thread peacefull and post the political commentaries in the myriad of threads already there for that purpose.
