Thread Name: BS: Give Peace a Chance
Subject: RE: BS: Give Peace a Chance
Kat, there is a Give Peace a Chance billboard on a corner about 10 miles from my home...put up by an Englishman, now living in CA, who fought in WW II. He told me he occasionally gets some flack about it, but often from people who have never actually been through war...and don't seem to quite realize it's not a movie, and the heros don't come back for another role another day.

BTW, the original Give Peace a Chance billboard was designed by (ex) Sister Mary Corita, during the Viet Nam war, I think. She did several, all collages, all with peaceful sayings worked into them...very effective.

Thanks for this thread. I do think it is meaningful to focus on peace. The full force of the media focuses on war as it is so much sexier, sells more papers, air time but skews reality. So I quit listening and ponder this instead:

"What if you know that the impulse to move in a way that creates beauty in the would will arise deep within and guide you every time you simply pay attention and wait?

How would this shape your stillness, your movement, your
willingness to follow this impulse, to just let go and dance?"

Corny maybe, and wishful thinking, but if there no good in mankind, nothing to balance the penchant for mayhem, what hope is there?
