I think it may be the cumulative effect of all those years having to write reports in "politically correct social worker speak". Where instead of calling someone "a violent nutcase that keeps trying to thump everyone" you might write that "this client has extreemly challenging behaviour and staff should be aware that he has a very accurate right fist and his left isn't any less accurate".
