Thread Name: Songs about Molly Maguires
Subject: Anybody else know this song?
My grandfather was a coal miner in Western PA and my father (Steel mill worker) used to sing us this song. I was wondering if anyone knew the origins or had heard it before.

I am the son of a miner
And my father's father was a miner too.
There's jobs a whole lot finer
But that's the only job I ever knew.

We go down, down, down,
Digging deeper every time
With pick and shovel always in your hand.

And it's work, work work
Just to give a brighter light
To those who live upon the land.
