It was very nice..chilly though. The highlight for me was seeing the increasing numbers of accordians..a great player came from Cheney and some great ones as well..plus me of course...not in the great category. Some new younger people were there; some old stalwarts..Stan James dropped in...I always like the late night sessions..stayed up till 5:30 or 6::/?? on Friday...just a few of us...had a great after concert circle in the chapel...great acoustics..set some ground rules..go fast, no chatter or scholarly monologues, and no going around the circle. So we ended up with the bestest music...I think you have to balance the strict take turns policy, which is probably necessary in official song circles..with some free for alls..in which truly some people do predominate..and it is with the approval of those who remain...Linda Allen sang a great new song..oh Reggie was there and finally we got him to do the one about the girl with the shimmy in her pants..as always the small unexpected moments are sometimes the greatest..I do get bored at the length of the concerts and take lots of walks, bathroom breaks etc..came across two Japanese (one Japanese Americans) playing the flute and guitar..and old Japanese song..seeing the children grow up before our eyes.. seeing some great couples who have met at Rainycamp and gotten married...
see you at Singtime for more of the same hopefully...
