It was so cold that night but there was no wind and it felt like the air would never move again the porch light forgot to turn on as I creaked open the door and padded across the grey carpet when I finally reached the bathroom the light was too brittle and it smashed against the faucet as it fell but it kept on falling I didn't feel the water on my hands and I'd swear it never touched my face although I saw my cheeks were wet in the wavering mirror I wanted to see the stars but I thought if I opened the window for sure I'd fall out so I stood there and clutched the curtains tightly closed
