Someone the other day mentioned that people on the 'net and people on the highway in their cars share the same peculiarity- they don't feel identifiable and therefore perceive themselves as not being subject to the usual social niceties.

I imagine there has been more than one give-em-the-finger driver who was greatly mortified when s/he suddenly discovered the offending car was piloted by a friend of theirs. Kind of like discovering that Max, et al, knows all along who the jerk is...
